Delicious, warm cinnamon rolls that evoke nostalgia and comfort with every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter (plus extra for filling)
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Mix the Dry Ingredients In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Give it a quick whisk to ensure everything is evenly distributed.
  2. Heat & Combine Wet Ingredients Heat the milk and butter until warm to the touch—this helps activate the yeast. Add this mixture to your dry ingredients along with the egg, mixing until the dough comes together.
  3. Knead the Dough Dust a clean surface with flour and knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. A well-kneaded dough should spring back when poked.
  4. Let It Rise Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  5. Roll into a Rectangle Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently to release the air. Roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Spread with Butter and Sprinkle Spread 1/4 cup of soft butter over the dough. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon evenly on top—this is where the magic happens!
  7. Roll and Slice Start rolling the dough tightly from one end to the other, creating a log. Cut the log into 12 equal-sized slices with a sharp knife or pastry cutter.
  8. Second Rise Arrange the slices in a greased baking dish. Cover them again and let them rise for another 30 minutes. This allows them to puff up beautifully.
  9. Bake to Golden Perfection Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and your kitchen smells heavenly.
  10. Drizzle with Icing While the rolls are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar and 1-2 tablespoons of milk until smooth. Once the rolls are out of the oven, drizzle the icing over them while they’re still warm for a perfect melt-in-your-mouth sensation.

Notes

Serve warm. Great with coffee or fresh fruit.
