  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Combine the cornmeal, all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, and egg in another bowl.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch square baking pan.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  7. Let the cornbread cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve cornbread with butter and honey, or alongside chili, soups, and stews. Store leftovers tightly wrapped at room temperature for 2 days or in the fridge for up to a week.
