  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and sauté the sliced smoked sausage, bell pepper, diced onion, and minced garlic for 5–7 minutes until tender and fragrant.
  2. Stir in the Cajun seasoning and let the spices bloom, coating the sausage and veggies.
  3. Add the chicken broth and heavy cream to the skillet and bring it to a gentle simmer.
  4. Combine the uncooked penne pasta, ensuring it gets coated in the creamy mixture. Cover the skillet.
  5. Cook for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is al dente.
  6. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and well incorporated.
  7. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste, and serve warm.
