Tender and crispy pork carnitas infused with citrus flavors, perfect for tacos or bowls.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs pork shoulder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Combine the pork shoulder with salt, black pepper, cumin, and paprika.
  3. Place the chopped onion and minced garlic in the bottom of a Dutch oven.
  4. Lay the seasoned pork on top of the onion and garlic mix.
  5. Pour the orange juice, lime juice, and chicken broth over the pork.
  6. Cover the Dutch oven tightly and place it in the oven.
  7. Remove the Dutch oven from the oven and shred the pork using two forks.
  8. Spread the shredded pork on a baking sheet and broil for a few minutes to get crispy edges.
  9. Garnish the pork with fresh cilantro and serve it with your favorite toppings.

Notes

Use a meat thermometer to check if your pork is done; it should reach an internal temperature of 195°F for shreddability.
