A slow-cooked pulled pork recipe that is flavorful and tender, perfect for family dinners or game day.

Ingredients

  • 34 pounds pork shoulder
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 46 hamburger buns (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Place the sliced onion and minced garlic at the bottom of the crockpot.
  2. Rub the pork shoulder with brown sugar, paprika, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper, if desired.
  3. Place the seasoned pork in the crockpot on top of the onion and garlic.
  4. Mix the barbecue sauce and chicken broth together in a bowl.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the pork is fork-tender.
  6. Remove the pork from the crockpot and shred using two forks.
  7. Serve the pulled pork on hamburger buns with additional barbecue sauce and your favorite toppings.

Notes

This recipe is versatile; serve it on buns, in tacos, or over rice. Leftovers are excellent for sandwiches or wraps.
