Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon mixed Italian herbs (oregano, basil, thyme)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Combine the Dry Ingredients: In a larger bowl, combine flour, salt, and Italian herbs.
  3. Form the Dough: Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the flour mixture. Stir until it forms a dough.
  4. Knead the Dough: Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let It Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Incorporate the Cheeses: Punch down the dough and fold in the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan.
  8. Shape the Loaf: Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  9. Final Rise: Let it rise for another 30 minutes until puffy.
  10. Bake the Bread: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Cool and Slice: Allow it to cool before slicing to prevent it from becoming doughy.
