A light and airy pancake that puffs up in the oven, perfect for sharing with family and friends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Powdered sugar for serving
  • Fresh fruit or syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Get it nice and hot—this is crucial for that fabulous rise.
  2. Whisk together the eggs, milk, flour, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  3. Melt the butter in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat until it begins to foam.
  4. Pour the batter into the hot skillet.
  5. Place the skillet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, until the edges are puffed and golden brown.
  6. Remove the Dutch Baby from the oven, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and serve it warm with fresh fruit or syrup.

Notes

Ensure ingredients are at room temperature for a smoother batter. A cast-iron skillet yields the best results.
