A comforting dish featuring crispy chicken, caramelized onions, and gooey Gruyère cheese, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon thyme

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 15 minutes.
  3. Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and thyme. Sear in the same skillet until golden brown on both sides.
  4. Pour the beef broth over the seared chicken and top with caramelized onions.
  5. Transfer to the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  6. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with Gruyère cheese. Return to cook until the cheese is bubbly, about 5 minutes.

Notes

Serve with crusty baguette and a simple salad. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3-4 days.
