Classic French salted butter cookies that melt in your mouth, combining buttery goodness with a perfect sprinkle of sea salt.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon Flaky Sea Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
  • Chocolate (for dipping)
  • Nuts (finely chopped, optional)
  • Citrus Zest (optional)
  • Herbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Mix in the pure vanilla extract thoroughly.
  4. Add the all-purpose flour gradually to the butter mixture, combining until just mixed.
  5. Shape the dough into a log about 2 inches in diameter, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 1 hour.
  6. Slicing the chilled dough log into 1/4-inch thick rounds.
  7. Sprinkle the tops with flaky sea salt.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the edges are golden.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. Optional: Dip in melted chocolate and add toppings as desired.

Notes

For best results, use high-quality unsalted butter. Chill the dough for perfect cookie shape and texture.
