A comforting and easy-to-make French toast casserole perfect for brunch or entertaining.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Butter for greasing
  • Maple syrup (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Cube the bread and place it in the prepared baking dish.
  3. Whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until combined.
  4. Pour the mixture over the bread cubes, pressing down lightly. Let it soak for at least 20 minutes or overnight.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  6. Serve warm, drizzled with maple syrup if desired.

Notes

Stale bread works best for better absorption. Customize with nuts or chocolate chips if desired.
