A simple yet extraordinary garlic herb bread baked to perfection in a Dutch oven.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients: Add the olive oil, minced garlic, and warm water, stirring until a wet dough forms.
  3. Incorporate Fresh Herbs: Fold in the chopped herbs.
  4. Let the Dough Rise: Cover the bowl with a cloth and let it rise for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) with a Dutch oven inside.
  6. Shape the Dough: Once the dough has risen, turn it out onto a floured surface and shape it into a ball.
  7. Transfer to Dutch Oven: Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven and place the dough inside.
  8. Bake with Lid: Cover and bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Finish Baking: Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Cool Before Slicing: Allow to cool slightly before slicing.

Notes

Let bread cool completely before storing. For longer storage, slice and freeze.
