German Chocolate Pie

A rich and nostalgic German Chocolate Pie combining luscious chocolate, coconut, and pecans.

Ingredients

  • 1 pre-made pie crust
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream until just simmering, then remove from heat. Stir in the chocolate chips until they melt into a smooth mixture.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy.
  4. Gradually stir in the chocolate mixture and vanilla extract into the egg mixture until well combined.
  5. Pour the chocolate filling into the prepared pie crust and bake for 25-30 minutes until set.
  6. Melt the butter in a saucepan, then stir in the shredded coconut and chopped pecans.
  7. Spread the coconut-pecan mixture evenly over the cooled pie.
  8. Chill the pie in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Serve chilled with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
