A rich and decadent chocolate cake infused with Guinness stout, topped with creamy Irish buttercream frosting.

  • 1 cup Guinness stout
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted Irish butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • Irish buttercream for frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine Guinness stout and cocoa powder. Whisk until smooth and let sit.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add softened Irish butter to the dry ingredients and mix until crumbly.
  5. Beat in eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract.
  6. Slowly add the Guinness mixture to the batter and mix until well combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Frost with Irish buttercream and enjoy!

Notes

Ensure your butter is softened but not melted. For a deeper chocolate flavor, add an extra tablespoon of cocoa powder.
