A creamy and savory Hamburger Stroganoff that brings warmth to your kitchen and joy to your table, perfect for any weeknight dinner or special gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Boil the Noodles: Begin by bringing a large pot of water to a boil. Add the egg noodles and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the noodles well and set aside.
  2. Brown the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until it is browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks.
  3. Add Onions and Mushrooms: Add the chopped onion and sliced mushrooms to the skillet with the browned beef. Stir occasionally and cook for about 5 minutes until the vegetables soften.
  4. Add Garlic: Then add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute to release its fragrance.
  5. Sprinkle Flour: Sprinkle the all-purpose flour evenly over the skillet mixture. Stir continuously to combine and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, which helps to remove the raw taste of the flour.
  6. Pour in Beef Broth: Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  7. Add Seasonings: Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and dried parsley. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken beautifully.
  8. Stir in Sour Cream: Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the sour cream carefully until the sauce turns smooth and creamy. Avoid boiling after adding the sour cream to prevent curdling.
  9. Combine with Noodles: Add the cooked egg noodles to the skillet and gently toss them with the sauce to coat thoroughly.
  10. Plate and Garnish: Plate the Hamburger Stroganoff and sprinkle fresh parsley over the top as a fragrant, colorful garnish. Serve immediately for the best taste.

Notes

Great served with a side salad and a crusty bread to soak up the sauce. It can also be prepared in advance and reheated before serving.
