Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 12 Hawaiian rolls, sliced
  • Powdered sugar for serving
  • Maple syrup for serving

Instructions

  1. Whisking the Custard Mixture: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg until beautifully blended.
  2. Heating the Skillet: Place a skillet over medium heat and add the unsalted butter. Allow it to melt gently.
  3. Dipping the Rolls: Take each slice of Hawaiian roll and dip it into the custard mixture, ensuring both sides are well-coated.
  4. Cooking the French Toast: Carefully place the dipped rolls onto the skillet and cook for about 2 to 3 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
  5. Flipping and Finishing: Flip the rolls and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes on the other side until perfectly golden.
  6. Completing the Batch: Repeat the previous steps with the remaining rolls.
  7. Serving Warm: Serve the warm French toast slices dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled with maple syrup.
