Delicious homemade cinnamon rolls with a sweet, gooey filling and cream cheese frosting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Combine the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, active dry yeast, and salt.
  2. Warm the milk mixture: In a separate bowl, gently heat the milk and stir in melted butter and egg.
  3. Pour the warm milk mixture into the flour mixture, and stir until a dough begins to form.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 to 7 minutes.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  6. Roll it out into a rectangle on a floured surface, about 1/2 inch thick.
  7. Spread softened butter over the surface and sprinkle the cinnamon and brown sugar mixture.
  8. Starting from one edge, roll the dough tightly and slice into 12 equal pieces.
  9. Place them in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for about 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  11. While baking, whisk powdered sugar and 1-2 tablespoons of milk to make frosting.
  12. Allow rolls to cool slightly before drizzling the frosting on top. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding nuts to the filling or vanilla extract to the frosting.
