Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the glaze:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one by one, mixing well after each.
  4. Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, stirring in the vanilla extract last.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan.
  6. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. While the cake is baking, melt the butter for the glaze in a saucepan and stir in the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  8. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert it onto a serving plate.
  9. Poke holes in the warm cake and pour the glaze over it.
  10. Let the cake cool completely before serving.
