A savory and tender marinated beef dish that embodies the flavors of Korea, perfect for quick meals and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb thinly sliced beef (ribeye or sirloin)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste) for spice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and black pepper.
  2. Marinate the Beef: Add the sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well coated. Cover and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, preferably overnight.
  3. Heat the Skillet: When you’re ready to cook, heat a skillet or grill over high heat.
  4. Stir-Fry the Beef and Onions: Once hot, add the marinated beef and sliced onions to the skillet. Stir-fry until the beef is cooked through, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  5. Garnish with Fresh Ingredients: Garnish your bulgogi with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
  6. Serve and Enjoy!: Serve the bulgogi with warm rice and other accompaniments of your choice.

Notes

Cut the beef about 30 minutes after freezing it for easier slicing. Marinate for longer for deeper flavor. Other meats or tofu can be used as alternatives.
