A vibrant and flavorful Kung Pao Chicken recipe featuring tender chicken, crunchy peanuts, and a tangy sauce, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, diced
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 cup peanuts
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  2. Add the diced chicken to the hot oil and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the diced bell pepper, minced garlic, and ginger to the pan. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken and vegetables, stirring well. Cook until the sauce thickens.
  6. Stir in the peanuts and chopped green onions, cooking for another 2 minutes.
  7. Serve your Kung Pao Chicken hot over a bed of fluffy rice.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the chicken before cooking. This dish can be made vegetarian by substituting tofu for the chicken.
