Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups sourdough starter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine the Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, water, sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Mix well until everything is incorporated.
  2. Gradually Add Flours: Gradually add the all-purpose flour and whole wheat flour until a dough forms.
  3. Fold in the Salt and Blueberries: Add the salt to your dough, ensuring it incorporates fully. Gently fold in the blueberries.
  4. Let It Rise: Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and allow it to rise in a warm place for about 240 minutes.
  5. Preheat the Oven: As the dough rises, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Shape the Dough: Once the dough has risen, shape it into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  7. Bake to Perfection: Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  8. Cool and Enjoy: Let the loaf cool before slicing, then enjoy it as is or with a slather of butter.

Notes

Ensure your sourdough starter is bubbly and active for the best rise. Store bread at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
