A comforting family favorite, this classic meatloaf combines ground beef, savory onions, and a sweet ketchup topping to evoke nostalgia.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine in a large bowl ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Shape the mixture into a loaf using clean hands.
  4. Place the formed loaf into a baking dish.
  5. Spread ketchup generously on top of the meatloaf.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  7. Allow the meatloaf to rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Make sure to not overmix the ingredients to keep the meatloaf tender. You can experiment with different meats or add herbs for flavor.
