Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak, sliced thinly
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 green onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional for thickening)
  • Cooked rice (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, water, and brown sugar until the sugar is dissolved. Set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the sliced flank steak to the skillet, cooking until browned, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.
  5. Pour the soy sauce mixture into the skillet and add the chopped scallions. Stir to combine.
  6. If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix the cornstarch with a little water until smooth and add to the skillet. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  7. Serve warm over cooked rice.

Notes

For deeper flavor, marinate the flank steak in the soy sauce mixture for 30 minutes before cooking.
