Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • Oil or butter for cooking

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients in a bowl: 1 cup of flour, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
  2. Whisk together the wet ingredients in another bowl: 1 cup of buttermilk, 1 large egg, and 2 tablespoons of melted butter until smooth.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  4. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with oil or butter.
  5. Pour 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake onto the hot skillet.
  6. Watch for bubbles to form on the surface; flip the pancakes when they appear.
  7. Cook until golden brown on both sides, about 1-2 minutes per side.
  8. Serve warm with syrup or toppings of your choice.

Notes

For fluffier pancakes, let the batter rest for 5-10 minutes before cooking. Consider adding vanilla extract or cinnamon to enhance flavor.
