A vibrant and playful cake perfect for celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, filled with colorful layers and delightful surprises.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Green food coloring
  • Whipped cream or frosting for decoration
  • Rainbow candies or chocolate coins for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans.
  2. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the milk until fully combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture.
  6. Divide the batter into two bowls. Add green food coloring to one bowl until the desired shade is achieved.
  7. Pour the plain batter into one cake pan and the green batter into the other.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, stack the cakes with the green cake on top. Frost and decorate with rainbow candies or chocolate coins.

Notes

Store leftover cake in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature, or refrigerate for about a week. Freeze slices for up to 3 months.
