Delightful red velvet cinnamon rolls topped with creamy icing, perfect for brunch or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red velvet food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, cocoa powder, melted butter, egg, red velvet food coloring, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  4. Flour your work surface and gently roll out the dough into a rectangular shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Spread the softened butter evenly over the rolled-out dough. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture all over the top.
  6. Starting from one longer side, roll the dough tightly into a log.
  7. Using a sharp knife, slice the rolled dough into 12 equal pieces. Place them in a greased baking dish.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden on top.
  9. While baking, beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth for the icing.
  10. Drizzle the warm icing over the baked cinnamon rolls. Serve warm.

Notes
