A flavorful and tender slow cooker carnitas recipe infused with citrus and spices, perfect for tacos or burritos.

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs pork shoulder
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 2 limes, juiced
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 2 teaspoons oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 bay leaf

Instructions

  1. Place the pork shoulder in the slow cooker.
  2. Add the quartered onion, minced garlic, orange juice, and lime juice.
  3. Sprinkle in the cumin, oregano, salt, black pepper, and bay leaf.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for about 8 hours.
  5. Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it into pieces.
  6. Serve in taco shells or as desired.

Notes

Leftover carnitas can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
