A comforting dish featuring tender flank steak in a savory-sweet sauce, perfect for family dinners.

  • 1.5 pounds flank steak, sliced thinly
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Cooked rice (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, water, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes in a slow cooker.
  2. Add the sliced flank steak to the slow cooker and stir to coat in the sauce mixture.
  3. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 5-6 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the beef is tender.
  4. Serve the Mongolian beef over cooked rice and garnish with sliced green onions.

Notes

For extra tenderness, choose a higher fat content in your flank steak. Use low-sodium soy sauce for a healthier version. This dish freezes well for up to 3 months.
