  • 34 pounds pork shoulder
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • BBQ sauce (for serving)
  • Buns (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Spice it up: In a small bowl, mix paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Rub the spice mix all over the pork shoulder.
  2. Get the cooker ready: Place the seasoned pork in the slow cooker and pour the chicken broth around it.
  3. Low and slow cooking: Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on low for about 8 hours.
  4. Shred away: Once the pork is done cooking, carefully remove it from the slow cooker and use two forks to shred it into pieces.
  5. Serve the goodness: Serve the shredded pork on buns with your favorite BBQ sauce.

Notes

For an extra kick, add hot sauce to the spice mix. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
