A simple yet satisfying smash burger recipe that captures the essence of summer cookouts with crispy edges and juicy interiors.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 4 Burger buns
  • Cheese (optional)
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Onion
  • Pickles
  • Condiments (ketchup, mustard, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat a griddle or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until it’s hot.
  2. Form your ground beef into balls, each weighing about 4 ounces.
  3. Smash the beef balls onto the hot surface with a spatula to create thin patties.
  4. Season the patties generously with salt and pepper.
  5. Cook the patties for about 2-3 minutes on each side, adding cheese just before flipping if desired.
  6. Toast the burger buns on the grill while the patties are cooking.
  7. Assemble the burgers with a toasted bun, crispy patty, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and your choice of condiments.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat for best results.
