These smash burgers are easy to make and deliver a crispy, caramelized crust with a juicy interior. Perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 4 Burger buns
  • Cheese (optional)
  • Toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over high heat.
  2. Form the ground beef into balls, each about 3-4 ounces.
  3. Smash the beef balls on the skillet to create thin patties.
  4. Season each patty generously with salt and pepper.
  5. Cook the patties for 2-3 minutes until a crust forms.
  6. Flip the patties, and add cheese on top if desired, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  7. Assemble the burgers on buns with your favorite toppings.

Notes

For a smoky flavor, cook on a cast-iron skillet. Don’t overcrowd the skillet.
