  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for rolling)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients until just mixed.
  6. Mix together granulated sugar and ground cinnamon for rolling.
  7. Roll dough into 1.5-inch balls and coat in the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are set.
  9. Cool on baking sheets before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

For best results, ensure your butter is softened to room temperature and don’t overmix the dough.
