Delicious homemade soft pretzel bites that are chewy on the inside with a golden-brown crust, perfect for sharing with your favorite dipping sauces.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F to 115°F)
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • Coarse sea salt for sprinkling
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  6. Roll the dough into ropes and cut into bite-sized pieces.
  7. Bring 10 cups of water and baking soda to a simmer in a large pot.
  8. Boil the pretzel bites in batches for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Brush the bites with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
