A heartwarming soul food platter featuring sticky chicken wings, creamy macaroni and cheese, and sweet candied yams.

Ingredients

  • Chicken wings
  • Soy sauce
  • Honey
  • Garlic powder
  • Paprika
  • Butter
  • Macaroni
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Milk
  • Candied yams (sweet potatoes)
  • Brown sugar
  • Marshmallows
  • Cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). In a bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, garlic powder, and paprika. Toss the wings in the mixture and place on a baking sheet.
  2. Bake the wings for 40 minutes, basting halfway through.
  3. Meanwhile, bring salted water to a boil and cook the macaroni until al dente, then drain.
  4. In a saucepan, melt butter, stir in milk and cheddar cheese until smooth.
  5. Peel and slice sweet potatoes, boil until fork-tender, then layer in a baking dish with brown sugar and cinnamon, topping with marshmallows.
  6. Bake the yams at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes until marshmallows are golden.
  7. Assemble the platter with wings, macaroni, and yams.

Notes

For crispier wings, broil them for the last few minutes. Experiment with cheese in your macaroni! Leftover mac and cheese can be used for stuffed peppers.
