A delightful rich chocolate cake with a festive green hue, perfect for celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Green food coloring
  • Black fondant
  • Whipped cream or frosting for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar together until fluffy and light.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture until well mixed.
  6. Add green food coloring to the batter until desired shade is achieved.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  8. Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Frost with whipped cream or desired icing.
  10. Shape black fondant into a band to place on the cake.
  11. Slice and serve your festive cake.
