  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Whipped cream (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs; mix until smooth.
  3. Pour half of the prepared batter into the greased baking dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
  4. In another bowl, blend the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in the chopped strawberries, shredded coconut, and nuts (if using).
  5. Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the batter in the baking dish, distributing it evenly.
  6. Carefully top with the remaining cake batter, trying to cover the cream cheese layer.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool before serving with whipped cream.

Notes

Store any uneaten cake in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. For best flavor, use ripe, fresh strawberries.
