Strawberry French Toast Casserole

A delightful casserole that combines the decadence of French toast with fresh strawberries, baked to perfection for a crowd-pleasing breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread (preferably brioche or challah)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • Powdered sugar for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish generously with butter or cooking spray.
  3. Cut the loaf of bread into cubes.
  4. Place half of these cubes in the bottom of your prepared baking dish.
  5. Whisk together the eggs, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
  6. Pour half of the egg mixture over the bread cubes in the dish.
  7. Spread the sliced strawberries over the soaked bread cubes.
  8. Top with the remaining bread cubes.
  9. Drizzle the rest of the egg mixture over the top.
  10. Drizzle the melted butter over the casserole.
  11. Cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  12. Bake the casserole, covered, for 30 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
  13. Let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar and serving warm.

Notes

Feel free to use any bread available; other berries can be substituted for strawberries. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
