Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 2 cups of heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup of milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the strawberries by mixing them with sugar and letting sit to release juices.
  2. Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  3. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Add the milk until just combined, taking care not to overmix.
  6. Shape the dough on a floured surface, roll out to 1-inch thickness, and cut out circles.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.
  8. Assemble by splitting the shortcakes, layering with strawberries and topping with whipped cream.

Notes

For variations, you can mix in other berries or adjust sweetness based on strawberry taste.
