Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Cream cheese or ricotta (for stuffing)
  • Powdered sugar (for serving)
  • Maple syrup (for serving)
  • Butter (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until combined.
  2. Take two slices of bread and spread a layer of cream cheese or ricotta on one side.
  3. Dip the stuffed bread into the egg mixture, coating both sides.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt butter until bubbly.
  5. Carefully place the stuffed toast into the skillet, frying until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Once fried, serve with powdered sugar and a drizzle of maple syrup.

Notes

Use thick bread like brioche or challah for better results. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
