A delightful dish featuring tender turnips filled with a savory mixture of rice, ground meat, and cheese, baked to perfection.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium turnips
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1/2 cup cooked ground meat (beef, pork, or turkey)
  • 1/4 cup chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup grated cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs (parsley or thyme) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut the tops off the turnips and scoop out the insides.
  3. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onions until translucent.
  4. In a bowl, mix the scooped turnip insides, cooked rice, ground meat, sautéed onions, and cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Stuff the turnips with the filling mixture and place them upright in a baking dish. Add a little water to the bottom of the dish.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30-35 minutes until the turnips are tender.
  7. Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.

Notes

If you have large or small turnips, adjust the filling quantity accordingly. For a vegetarian option, replace the meat with veggies or lentils.
