  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated onion
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Mix together the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated onion, milk, egg, salt, black pepper, allspice, and nutmeg until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into small meatballs about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add the meatballs to the skillet in batches and brown them on all sides.
  5. Incorporate flour to the remaining fat in the skillet to create a roux.
  6. Whisk in the beef broth and bring to a simmer, letting it thicken slightly.
  7. Stir in the heavy cream and soy sauce until fully combined.
  8. Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  9. Serve with creamy mashed potatoes or lingonberry sauce.

Notes

For extra juicy meatballs, avoid overmixing. Experiment with herbs like dill or parsley for additional flavor!
