Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon mixed herbs (thyme, rosemary, oregano)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (such as mozzarella or cheddar)
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Form the dough: Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, kneading until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough: Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Let the dough rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  6. Roll out the dough: Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle.
  7. Spread the flavor: Spread minced garlic and herbs evenly over the dough, then sprinkle cheese on top.
  8. Roll and slice: Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice it into portions.
  9. Second rise: Place the slices in a greased baking dish and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  10. Bake the bread: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Cool and garnish: Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Use warm water that is not hot to activate the yeast properly. Be patient with rising times for the best texture.
