This Texas Sheet Cake is a rich, chocolatey dessert that’s perfect for celebrations, packed with flavor and topped with a delightful frosting.

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a large baking sheet.
  2. Combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Bring the unsalted butter and water to a boil over medium heat, then stir in the unsweetened cocoa powder until smooth.
  4. Pour the warm chocolate mixture over the dry ingredients and stir thoroughly.
  5. Add the vanilla extract, buttermilk, and eggs, blending until smooth.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  7. Prepare the frosting by melting butter in a saucepan and mixing in cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and milk.
  8. Frost the cake with the warm frosting once it comes out of the oven.
