Classic Tiramisu

A classic Italian dessert with layers of mascarpone, coffee, and ladyfingers, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1/2 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 24 ladyfinger cookies
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar over medium heat until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  3. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
  4. Whip the heavy cream in a large mixing bowl until stiff peaks form.
  5. Fold the cooled egg mixture into the whipped cream until smooth.
  6. Add the mascarpone cheese and fold gently until fully incorporated.
  7. Combine cooled coffee and coffee liqueur in a shallow dish.
  8. Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture for a moment and arrange in a baking dish.
  9. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers, then repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers.
  10. Finish with the remaining mascarpone mixture on top.
  11. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  12. Dust with cocoa powder before serving.

Notes

Tiramisu can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For a twist, try adding vanilla extract or fruit purees.
