A classic Latin American dessert made with three types of milk, resulting in a moist and creamy cake perfect for any celebration.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • Fresh fruit for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed butter and sugar, alternating with the milk.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Once the cake has cooled, poke holes all over the surface with a fork.
  7. Mix together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk. Pour over the cake and let it soak for at least 1-2 hours or overnight.
  8. Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form and spread over the top of the cake.
  9. Top with fresh fruits if desired and serve.

Notes

For best results, refrigerate the cake overnight before serving for maximum moisture.
