A rich and moist tres leches cake that embodies love, tradition, and celebration, with a delightful blend of creamy milks and a light whipped cream topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (for whipped cream topping)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for whipped cream topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking dish to ensure your cake comes out beautifully.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set this mixture aside.
  3. Beat the eggs and sugar together until thick and pale, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the flour mixture with the egg mixture, alternating with the milk until fully combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Mix together the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and heavy cream in a bowl.
  7. Poke holes all over the cooled cake with a fork or skewer, and pour the milky mixture evenly over it. Let it soak for at least one hour.
  8. Whip the heavy cream with sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form for the topping.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a splash of rum or coconut extract to the milky mixture. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
